Tameo Kits’ latest release is a 1/43 model kit (TMK 453) of the 1981 Austrian GP winning Ligier Matra JS17. This beautiful race car competed in a striking blue and white livery, complemented by highly polished aluminium wings. All replicated here at 1/43 scale. Let’s open the box and take a look….

Following Tameo’s typical approach, the kit includes cast metal and photo-etch parts, rubber tyres, various detail parts including metal rod and wire mesh, decals and full colour instructions

The instructions detail the assembly steps and painting instructions for all parts

Decals are printed with vibrant colours and perfect register, providing all markings to complete the livery once the body has been painted French Blue

Darker blue sections for the top of the side pods are provided as decals

The full spread of kit parts highlights both the high level of detail, and the relatively limited part count. The model is accessible to modelers with limited experience, with providing the perfect form and surface detail to satisfy even the most discerning builders

Transmission parts exhibit high levels of surface detail and will look fantastic once painted and installed

Wheels are perfectly cast and feature accurate profiles and detail

Precision photo etched metal parts are provided for many of the smaller or thinner details, ensuring an accurate ‘in-scale’ appearance

Main body part is beautifully cast and perfectly captures the unique shape and details of the JS17

Test fitting some cockpit parts hints at the form of the completed model. Simply beautiful. We trust modelers will appreciate the opportunity to build this classic monoposto from 45 years ago
