Here it is, a brand new kit of the 1969 Ferrari 312 F1. Let’s ‘open the box’ and take a look…..

Inside the sturdy box, the kit parts are neatly bagged, along with decals and detailed instructions.

Fine details are provided as photo etch details, complementing the cast parts.

Kit instructions are clear and fully labelled to guide assembly.

3D render of the model details the placement of all decals – and provides a vision of what will be a beautiful finished model.

Decals are specific to Chris Amon’s British GP monoposto.

Let’s explore some of the castings. On opening the bag, we find a wonderful array of components.

The cast parts for the 312 laid out for inspection.

Components are perfectly cast with shape detail and no warping.

Parts like the roll hoop are remarkably in 1/43. Even, consistent form.

The suspension components also demonstrate the advances in casting processes. These parts are perfectly in scale, while providing a much richer level of detail than 2D etched parts.

The unique rear wing mounting, and asymmetrical settings for this GP.

Cast wheels are perfectly round (the camera generates a slight distortion) and highly detailed.

The 1969 312 featured a unique tread pattern. This pattern is perfectly replicated via new molds. In the weeks ahead we will paint and assemble the parts. More soon…
