Tameo Kits’ latest release is a 1/24 scale model of the 1975 world championship winning Ferrari 312T. The 312T need little introduction. This glorious car is a true icon of grand prix racing, marking the start of the highly successful 312 T series, and facilitating Niki Lauda’s first title. This model was announced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Lauda’s win at the Italian GP and features many innovative design and manufacturing solutions to accurately replicate this beautiful car. We are very proud of this model and trust modelers will appreciate the passion and commitment we have demonstrated in bringing this model to reality. Let’s open the box and take a look….

Kit components are carefully bagged and well protected in a sturdy box.

Removing the contents of the box, the first observation is there are a lot of bags …. and a lot of parts.!

Moving to a detailed review of the kit contents, we start with the decal sheet. The iconic livery for the 312T is printed in perfect register.

Accurate sponsor markings are all included.

Full colour instructions will guide the modeler through the painting and assembly of this model. A pdf of the instructions is also available at the Tameo Kits website.

The instructions also include a full spread of the kit parts, assisting in sorting and identifying all the components.

…and the moment when digital design becomes cast metal reality.

The full spread of cast white metal components, with the tub and body work immediately recognizable, surrounded by the many smaller high detail parts.

The cast boxer 12 flat boxer engine features very high levels of surface detail and perfect casting.

More of the parts for the rear of the car.

Zooming in on some of the components, starting with the pedal assemblies, cast with remarkably fine detail.

The top of the monocoque with fine cast rivet detail.

Rear suspension components, again highlighting superb detail and casting.

The main body and airbox parts, perfectly capturing the unique shape of this car.

Another angle of the main body parts.

Driver seat and cockpit details.

Nose and front wing parts, further highlighting the accuracy and fidelity of the parts.

While white metal has been used for much of this model, there are many components manufactured in other materials and we will now begin to review these.

Seat belts are provided as vinyl stickers, pre-cut to shape and in accurate colour.

Turning to the photo-etch parts, in this larger scale, the radiator faces show a detailed representation of the plumbing which will look excellent on the model.

Detail parts are sharply cast on thin metal sheet.

…while thicker metal sheet is used for components where this is more appropriate, with perfect etching throughout.

Many metal rods and tubes are included for various applications across the model, as are turned metal fittings to attach suspension and other components.

A new solution for this model is the inclusion of brass elements for the lower suspension at front and rear. These are beautiful, jewel-like castings, offering strength, detail and fidelity.

A closer look at the rear suspension part.

The brass rear suspension from the side, showing the cast holes for attachment with turned metal ‘bolts’. A perfect solution for these challenging parts.

Vac-formed windscreen parts are flawless and provide accurate scale thickness for this part.

Mesh is included, along with a cash press to form the protective ‘baskets’ for the engine trumpets.

Various thickness wire included for detailing across the model.

3D printed resin components for the drive shaft boots.

3D printed resin parts for the battery terminals.

Clear resin brake ducts are included for front and rear, allowing modelers to tint these wit a recommended paint mix for a perfect representation of the semi-transparent fiberglass components of the real car.

Finally the tyres. These are also entirely new for this model, perfectly capturing the shape of the front and rears. Contact surfaces show a slightly worn finish, while manufacturer logos are pre-printed on the sidewalls.
