OPENING THE BOX – MARCH 711 ITALIAN GP 1971 – BY MICHAEL KELLY

Tameo Kits latest release (TMK 451) is the March Ford 711 as driven by Ronnie Peterson at the 1971 Italian GP. This kit follows the recent release of the Monaco GP version and features significantly modified bodywork and wings for the high speed Monza layout. Let’s take a look at the kit….

The decal placement guide gives an excellent overall indication of the completed model, with the unique features of this version (no front wing, large airbox above the engine and a low downforce rear wing) immediately apparent.

Detailed, full colour instructions are provided to guide the builder through the assembly steps, with several photos of the real car included for reference and “inspiration”.

The spread of kit parts highlights the typical Tameo Kits approach of cast metal and photo-etch parts, rubber tyres, various detail parts including metal rod and wire mesh, decals and full colour instructions.

Decals are sharply printed and include all of the recognizable sponsor markings for this eye-catching livery.

Separately bagged are a range of parts for detailing different aspects of the model, as well as the rubber tyres.

The main body casting perfectly captures both the overall form of the March 711, as well as the crisp details on the body surface.

Another view of the body casting to highlight the fine panel line detail and the complex forms around the driver, all cast in a single piece.

The airbox design which differs markedly from the previous Monaco GP kit.

Photo etch parts are included for components where this is the best design solution, including rear wing endplates, cockpit surrounds and many other parts.

Cast wheels include accurate and sharply cast spoke detail.

Cast suspension components are incredibly fine and will look fantastic on the completed model.

A beautiful image of the components of this iconic kit of one of the most fascinating F1 cars ever. Send us photos of your amazing builds, we are curious to see your creations.
